Family Matters Group
The following support groups run concurrently every 1st and 3rd Thursday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the Grace United Methodist Church, located at:
112 North Walnut
Glenwood, IA 51534
The meetings are free, confidential, and open to the public. Childcare is available onsite.
MOM (Mom's Off Meth) Support Group
You can share your struggles, fears, and feelings by talking to other women who have been where you are. Get helpful information and support in an atmosphere of understanding and confidentiality.
DAD (Dad's Against Drugs) Support Group
The DADS goal is to help men deal with the challenges in their lives due to substance abuse. DADS is not a 12-step program, but a support network of fathers dealing with similar issues.
NOT ALONE Children's Educational Support Group
This program is for children ages 5 to 18. Education about addiction gives children a framework for what they are experiencing. They hear the messages they need to hear - that they are not alone. The entire family is strengthened, stress levels reduced, and resilience enhanced when these services are available to the children.
Additional Service to Women & families - Recovery Coaching
The basic philosophy behind recovery coaching is that we have immeasurable resources of energy, wisdom, and ability waiting to be set in motion. We can create the life we want faster and more easily by having a coach who helps us utilize our resources to facilitate change and realize our potential. When you empower a person and show her what she can do instead of focusing on what she can't do, you can improve her overall mental health and life in general dramatically. Coaching answers the question of 'now what?' that women in recovery ask as they transition into a clean and sober world.
